Four out of five people in Switzerland will need a blood product at some point in their lives. Yet only 2.5% of the population donate blood. Yet it is so easy to do something good and save up to three lives in the process. Because donating blood doesn't take long: if you donate regularly, it takes about 40 minutes including the preliminary talk. If you are donating for the first time, it takes about an hour. A questionnaire is used to check whether all the criteria are met. If everything is in the green zone, 450ml of blood is taken by specialist staff. Afterwards, donors enjoy free refreshments.

The SRC Aargau-Solothurn Blood Donation Foundation operates six blood donation centers in the two cantons (Aarau, Baden, Solothurn, Zofingen, Muri and Olten) and holds more than 130 blood donation campaigns in over 60 municipalities every year. Donors are advised to make a personal appointment online or by telephone at the desired donation center and to complete the online donation check beforehand.
